Using Data Backup, you can take a backup of any kind of data you prefer. Taking a backup of the data is required for protection against ransomware attacks.
If any ransomware attacks happen, you can restore the backed up data.
i. Turning Data Backup on
Toggle the button to turn on Data Backup.
ii. Current Data Backup Details
The backup location, backup size, schedule, and the last backup taken time are displayed.
To change data backup location, follow these steps:
- Open Quick Heal AntiVirus Pro.
- On the left pane, navigate to Privacy > Backup & Restore > Data Backup > Current Data Backup Details.
- Click Change Location.
A message appears that cautions that the data backed up till date will be moved to the changed location and the new backup the data will be saved on this new location from now.
- Click Select Location and then browse to the new desired location. Click OK.
- Click Move Data. The previously backed up data is moved successfully. The next backups will be saved to the newly configured location.
iii. Select types of files to backup
The backup files list includes three file categories: default, custom, and user specified. Data of the default file category is saved without fail. In order to back up the data from the custom category, you need to keep the file categories selected.
In user specified category, you can add the file extensions for which you want backup or exclude certain file extensions of which you do not need backup. Be careful while excluding any file extensions as these data will not be backed up.
To add or exclude file extensions, follow these steps.
- On the Data Backup screen, select Select types of files to backup > Advanced.
- Default (Tally Included): This option is selected by default. It includes the path for the Tally directory if installed.
- Advance: You can manually select the types of file to be backed up. To do so, click Configure.
- Click Save to save entries.
The Types of Files to Backup list with file categories list appears. This list includes the following file categories. Some files are selected by default.
You cannot edit the default file types. Data of these files are backed up without fail.
User Specified Files: Displays the file extensions that have been added or excluded.
Manage File Extensions: Click + Add to add desired file extension. Click OK.
Exclude File Extension: You can also exclude file extensions that you want to exclude from being backed up. Click + Add to add the files to the exclusion list. Click OK.
