Web Security

Web Security helps protect your Mac from online threats, including malicious and fraudulent websites. It also lets you manage website access and schedule Internet access for children or other users according to your requirements.

Web Security includes the following features:

  • Browsing Protection: Helps block malicious websites while you browse the Internet.
  • Phishing Protection: Helps prevent access to phishing and fraudulent websites that may attempt to steal your personal information.
  • Parental Control: Lets you restrict access to website categories, block specific websites, and schedule Internet access.

1. Browsing Protection

Browsing Protection helps protect your Mac by blocking malicious websites while you browse the Internet. These websites may contain harmful content or pose a security risk to your system.

Browsing Protection is enabled by default. We recommend keeping it enabled to help protect your Mac while browsing.

Configuring Browsing Protection

To configure Browsing Protection, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. On the Web Security settings screen, turn Browsing Protection ON.

Browsing Protection is enabled and helps block malicious websites when you browse the Internet.

You can turn Browsing Protection OFF whenever required. However, we recommend keeping it enabled for continued protection while browsing.

2. Phishing Protection

Phishing Protection helps prevent access to phishing and fraudulent websites. Phishing is an attempt to steal sensitive information, such as passwords, account details, or financial information, by directing you to a fraudulent website.

Phishing websites may imitate trusted organizations, banks, companies, or online services to convince you to share personal information. These websites may ask for details such as your account number, password, or credit card information.

Phishing Protection automatically checks accessed web pages for fraudulent activity and helps block phishing websites. This helps protect your personal information while you browse the Internet, shop online, or use online banking services.

Phishing Protection is enabled by default. We recommend keeping it enabled to help protect you from phishing attempts.

Configuring Phishing Protection

To configure Phishing Protection, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. On the Web Security settings screen, turn Phishing Protection ON.

Phishing Protection is enabled and helps prevent access to phishing and fraudulent websites.

You can turn Phishing Protection OFF whenever required. However, we recommend keeping it enabled to help protect your personal information while browsing.

3. Parental Control

Parental Control lets parents manage their children’s Internet activity and restrict access to websites according to their requirements. You can allow or block websites based on their categories, block specific websites, and schedule when Internet access is allowed.

Parental Control categorizes websites so that you can manage access to different types of online content. This helps you restrict access to websites that may not be suitable for children or other users.

Parental Control includes the following options:

  • Restrict access to websites based on category: Allows or denies access to websites belonging to selected categories.
  • Restrict access to websites as specified by user: Lets you block specific websites by adding their URLs.
  • Schedule Internet access: Lets you define the days and time periods during which Internet access is allowed.

Configuring Parental Control

To configure Parental Control, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. On the Web Security settings screen, click Parental Control.
  4. Configure the options according to your requirements:
    • Restrict access to websites based on category.
    • Restrict access to websites as specified by user.
    • Schedule Internet access.
  5. Click Save to save your settings.

Restricting Access to Websites Based on Category

This option lets you allow or deny access to websites based on their categories. When you restrict a category, the restriction applies to websites belonging to that category. This is useful when you want to manage access to multiple websites without adding each website individually.

You can also exclude specific websites from a restricted category. This allows users to access those websites even when their category is blocked.

To configure category-based website restrictions, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. Click Parental Control.
  4. Under Restrict access to websites, turn Based on the category ON.
  5. Click Configure.
  6. The Web Category list appears. Click Allow or Deny next to each category to configure access according to your requirements.

To allow a specific website in a restricted category:

  1. In the Web Category list, click Exclude.
  2. Enter the URL of the website you want to allow and click Add.
  3. To remove a website from the exclusion list, select its URL and click Remove. To clear the list, click Remove All.
  4. To block all subdomains of a website, select Also block subdomains.
  5. Click OK to close the Web Category list.
  6. Click OK again, then click Save to save your settings.

For example, if you block www.abc.com and select Also block subdomains, subdomains such as mail.abc.com will also be blocked.

Restricting Access to Specific Websites

This option lets you block individual websites by adding their URLs to a list. It is useful when you want to restrict specific websites instead of blocking an entire category. You can add multiple websites and remove them whenever required.

To configure restrictions for specific websites, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. Click Parental Control.
  4. Under Restrict access to websites, turn As specified by user ON.
  5. Click Configure.
  6. Enter the URL of the website you want to block and click Add.
  7. Repeat the process to add other websites you want to block.
  8. To remove a website, select its URL and click Remove. To remove all websites from the list, click Remove All.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Save to save your settings.

Scheduling Internet Access

The Schedule Internet access option lets you control when children or other users can access the Internet. You can allow Internet access at all times or create a schedule for specific days and time periods.

To configure the Internet access schedule, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quick Heal Total Security.
  2. On the Dashboard, click Web Security.
  3. Click Parental Control.
  4. Turn Schedule Internet access ON.
  5. Click Configure.
  6. On the Schedule Internet Access screen, select one of the following options:
    • Always allow access to the Internet: Allows Internet access without schedule-based restrictions.
    • Allow access to the Internet as per the schedule: Lets you specify when Internet access is allowed. Selecting this option enables the weekly routine chart.
  7. If you select Allow access to the Internet as per the schedule, use the routine chart to configure the allowed time periods for each day.
  8. Click a time cell to select the required period for a particular day.
  9. To apply the same time period across multiple days, use the routine chart’s time-period selection. You can also select an entire day to apply the restriction to that day.
  10. Review the schedule and click OK to save it.
  11. Click Save on the Parental Control screen to apply your settings, if this option is displayed.
