Upon opening Quick Heal Internet Security Essentials, you will be directed to the Home screen, which features the following tabs:
1. License Renewal
When your Quick Heal license is nearing its expiry date, the Home screen displays a renewal option.
If your license is about to expire in 60 days, the renewal strip displays Renew Now. Select Renew Now to continue to the existing renewal page.
When your license is about to expire in 7 days, the renewal strip displays Quick Renew. Select Quick Renew to start the Quick Renew process and make the payment using the QR code.
2. Device Security Status
The Device Security Status section at the top of the Home screen tells you whether your computer is protected and whether any important security features need your attention.
When your device is protected
If your important security features are enabled and your product is up to date, you may see a message such as:
Excellent!
You have the latest updates.
This means there is no immediate action required from this section.
When your device needs attention
If one or more important protection features are turned off, you may see:
Device at risk!
The Home screen also tells you which protection feature is turned off. For example, it may show that Virus Protection is turned off. If more than one feature is turned off, the message can list the affected features.
This does not mean that your computer has already been infected. It means that one or more security features that help protect your computer are currently turned off.
Resolve Now
If your device needs attention, select Resolve Now. Quick Heal opens a window showing the protection features that you can turn on.
For example, depending on which features are turned off, you may see:
- Enable Virus Protection – Turns on protection against viruses, malware, and other harmful programs.
- Enable Ransomware Protection – Helps protect your files from ransomware attacks.
- Enable Malware Protection – Helps protect your computer from harmful software that can steal or damage your data.
Use the toggle to turn on a feature. The Home screen updates automatically, or select Skip For Now to make the change later.
3. Threat Analysis
The Threat Analysis section shows you information about threats that Quick Heal has blocked on your computer.
For example, the Home screen may show the number of threats blocked. Select the Threat Analysis section to view more details.
Threats Blocked
The Threats Blocked screen gives you a better understanding of the security activity detected on your computer.
Depending on the available information, you can see:
- Total Threats Blocked – The total number of threats Quick Heal has blocked.
- Hacking Attempts Stopped – Attempts to gain unauthorised access that Quick Heal has stopped.
- Phishing Attempts Blocked – Attempts to trick you into sharing information through unsafe or misleading content.
- Total Threats – The number of threats detected during the selected period.
You may also see a breakdown of threats by category, such as malware, ransomware, or suspicious files. You can select a time period, such as the last 7 days or the last 4 weeks, to understand your recent threat activity. If you want more information about individual security events, select View Reports to open the detailed reports.
Scan Now
You can also start a scan directly from the Home screen using Scan Now.
Click Scan Now and select the scan type you want to run. Different scan options are available for different situations.
- Quick Scan – Checks the areas of your computer where threats are commonly found.
- Full Device Scan – Checks your computer more thoroughly for possible threats.
- Custom Scan – Lets you choose what you want to check.
- Memory Scan – Checks the computer’s memory for possible threats.
- Boot Time Scan – Checks your computer during startup, before Windows fully loads.
-
Vulnerability Scan – Checks for security
weaknesses that may need your attention. - Mobile Scan – Lets you scan a connected mobile device when supported.
Choose the scan that best matches what you want to check. The scan options available may vary depending on your Quick Heal product. When a scan finishes, Quick Heal shows the scan status on the Home screen.
4. Safety Score
The Safety Score gives you a simple way to understand how well your computer’s security and privacy settings are configured.
The Home screen shows two separate scores:
- Security
- Privacy
Each score is accompanied by a status such as Good, Medium, or Low. Click Know more to view more information about the Safety Score. A higher score generally means that more of the recommended security or privacy settings are enabled.
Fix Issues
If there are settings that you can change to improve your Safety Score,
the Home screen shows Fix Issues.
Select Fix Issues to see the recommended actions.
For example, you may be asked to:
- Sign up for metaProtect – Set up metaProtect to manage available digital protection features.
- Set a Scan Schedule – Set up regular scans so your computer can be checked automatically.
- Enable Safe Wi-Fi – Use Quick Heal’s Wi-Fi security feature to check a Wi-Fi connection for possible risks.
- Enable Spy Alert – Configure protection that can help alert you to websites attempting to monitor your activities.
The recommendations shown depend on your current settings and product configuration. If a recommended feature is not included in your current product, it may be shown with a lock icon and an Upgrade Now option. If you do not want to make the recommended changes at that time, you can select Skip For Now.
5. System Optimizer
The System Optimizer section gives you a quick idea of how your computer is performing.
It shows two important measurements:
- CPU Usage – Shows how much your computer’s processor is being used at the moment.
- Memory in use – Shows how much of your computer’s available memory is currently being used.
For example, if Memory in use is 65%, it means that about 65% of the available computer memory is currently being used.
If memory usage is higher than the normal range, Quick Heal may show a message such as Above normal. This helps you understand when your computer may be using more memory than usual.
The Home screen also shows a quick status, such as Running well, to give you an easy-to-understand view of your computer’s performance.
Performance Monitor
Select the System Optimizer section to open Performance Monitor and see more information about your computer’s performance.
The Performance Monitor can show:
- Current Boot Time – How long your computer took to start the last time it was turned on.
- Average CPU Usage – The average amount of processor power being used.
- Memory in Use – The amount of computer memory currently being used.
- CPU Temperature – The processor temperature when this information is available.
- Boot Time Trend – Shows how your computer’s startup time has changed.
- CPU Utilisation – Shows which programs are using the most processor resources.
This information can help you understand why your computer may feel slow or whether it is running normally.
6. Powered Protection
The Powered Protection section gives you quick access to some of the security and protection features available in Quick Heal.
Instead of looking through different sections of the product, you can select a feature directly from the Home screen.
The available features are displayed as cards. You can move through the cards using the carousel controls to find the feature you need.
The action button on a feature card depends on the feature and lets you perform the relevant action directly from the Home screen.
Performance Booster
Performance Booster helps you access tools designed to improve your computer’s performance.
If your computer feels slow or you want to check its performance, select Boost Now to open Performance Booster.
From there, you can use the available options to improve your computer’s performance.
Dark Web Monitoring
Dark Web Monitoring helps you check whether the personal information you choose to monitor has appeared in a known data leak on the dark web. The dark web is a part of the internet that is not normally accessible through standard search engines. Stolen or leaked information may sometimes be shared or traded there.
You do not need to understand how the dark web works to use this feature. Quick Heal checks the information you have chosen to monitor and shows the result in the product. Select View to open Dark Web Monitoring.
The Dark Web Monitoring screen shows the current monitoring status and when the information was last updated. If no matching data has been found, you may see a message such as:
Great news!
No signs of your data being found on the dark web yet.
You can select Refresh to check for updated results. You can also select Edit Monitoring Info to manage the information you want to monitor.
Backup & Restore
Backup & Restore helps you create backups of your important files and restore them when needed.
A backup is an extra copy of your files. Keeping a backup can be useful if you accidentally delete a file or need to recover your data.
Select View on the Backup & Restore card to open the feature and access the available backup and restore options.
7. Ransomware Protection
Ransomware Protection helps protect your files from ransomware attacks.
Ransomware is a type of harmful software that can lock or encrypt your files and demand payment to give you access to them. Ransomware Protection adds an extra layer of protection for your files against this type of threat.
Select View to open Ransomware Protection and check the available settings. If Ransomware Protection is turned off, the Home screen may show that your device needs attention. Select Resolve Now to see the option to enable it.
8. Virus Protection
Virus Protection helps protect your computer from viruses, malware, and other harmful programs.
A virus is a type of harmful program that can affect your computer or files. Malware is a broader term used for software designed to harm, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to a computer or its data.
When Virus Protection is turned on, Quick Heal provides continuous protection against these threats.
Select View to open Virus Protection and manage the available settings.
If Virus Protection is turned off, the Home screen may show Device at risk!. Select Resolve Now to view the option for enabling Virus Protection.
9. Firewall Protection
Firewall Protection helps protect your computer from unwanted network connections.
In simple terms, a firewall works like a security gate between your computer and network traffic. It helps control which connections can communicate with your computer.
Select View to open Firewall Protection and access the available settings.
10. Feature Availability
The features shown on the Home screen depend on the Quick Heal product you are using.
Some features may not be included with your current product. When a feature is not available, it may appear with a lock icon and an Upgrade Now option.
Select Upgrade Now to see the available upgrade option.
The same may happen with some recommendations shown under
Fix Issues. If a recommended feature is not available with your current product, Quick Heal may show an option to upgrade.
Note: The features, recommendations, and options shown on the Home screen may vary depending on your Quick Heal product and settings.
11. Miscellaneous Icons
The Miscellaneous Icons in the lower pane of the Status page displays the following:
A. Virtual Keyboard
Using the Virtual keyboard reduces the risk of your sensitive information getting recorded by a possible keystroke recording malware while you type in via your physical keyboard.
Virtual Keyboard helps you enter the required information without pressing any keys on the physical keyboard, and hence keyloggers cannot record you. Click the icon to use the Virtual Keyboard.
